Introduction to DSim Cloud Packages

A key benefit of using DSim Cloud is that users no longer need to manage on-premise tools and libraries themselves. A list of tools and libraries, known as packages, are available to DSim Cloud Jobs and when executing commands in Cloud Interactive workspaces.

This article focuses on accessing the contents of the "Packages Directory" item in the diagram below.

Versions of packages are available once the remote workspace is started and are accessible by modifying the DSim Cloud configuration file. Typically, these versions are the latest qualified version of the package. Some packages contain precompiled libraries. Packages can be linked, and the versions selected, by modifying the DSim Cloud configuration file.

An environment variable of the form <PACKAGE_HOME> is set on the remote workspace that points to the specific version being used. A list of all environment variables can be displayed in an active remote workspace using the command:

mdc envs

To display the remote path and version of a particular package, PACKAGE_HOME for example, enter:

mdc envs | findstr PACKAGE_HOME

Linux / Mac

mdc envs | grep PACKAGE_HOME

Available Packages
