I have installed Dsim Desktop following the instructions here: Install DSim Desktop
I then followed the tutorial to simulate the example design here: Tutorial
On the Run Your Design step, I am stuck because I click the Play button next to Sim 1, and I get the following output:
$ dsim -top work.carry_lookahead_adder_tb -L dut +acc+b -waves waves.mxd=F:[UsageMeter (2024-06-28 14:35:00 Eastern Daylight Time)] Cannot open given license file C:\Users\pdelaware\AppData\Local\metrics-ca\dsim-license.json.
I followed the instructions to install as I stated above, and it is true that there is no JSON license or any kind of license at this location. How can I get a license file?

I just realized that you are using our old user documentation on our old support site (support.metrics.ca) instead of our new support site (https://help.metrics.ca/). How did you end up on our old support site?
Following the new instructions to Install DSim Desktop will tell you how to generate a license:
Glad that resolved your issue. The old support site will be decommissioned in August. Funny how you ended up there for the Knowledge Base articles, but ended up at the correct support site for the Forums. Ensure you use the correct support site for future support.

Thanks Shaun. Not sure how I ended up on that site, probably just a google search for metrics support or DSim Desktop installation. Hopefully that site can be taken down as it is missing vital information about generating and installing the license.

Thank you, I tried switching those folders to "unhidden". I deleted my DSim version and re-installed it, but got the same error when trying to simulate. It seems to not be downloading a license file at all. There is also a little yellow triangle that says License Missing.

Is the folder C:\Users\pdelaware\AppData\Local hidden? If so, unhide it and try again. It may be the same issue as this post:
