Logging into DSim Cloud from DSim Cloud CLI

Synopsis

If this is your first time using DSim Cloud, you'll need to log in to it first.

Logging In

1. Open your terminal and run mdc auth login.

2. After entering the above command, there will be a message printed to the terminal window asking you to use the web browser to continue.

3. A browser window will open with a dialog that looks very similar to the following:

4. Enter your Altair One credentials to be authenticated to Altair One, which will allow you to use the DSim Cloud CLI (mdc) to create and manage your interactive workspace. If you do not have an Altair One account, click the 'Register for Altair One Account' link to create one.

5. Once authentication is successful, there will be a message printed to the terminal indicating that authentication was successful.

Automation Token

An automation token can be used to authenticate with the DSim Cloud CLI (mdc) for automating Cloud Jobs flows.

All mdc commands that require authentication can use this automation token, thereby allowing you to use DSim Cloud without manually logging in.

To obtain an automation token:

1. Log in to your DSim Cloud Portal.

2. Click the Profile icon, then Automation Tokens.

3. Under the Automation Tokens tab, read the information. Then click Generate.

4. Copy the generated automation token into an environment variable called MDC_AUTOMATION_TOKEN.
